while bringing my hands together for an admirative clap when learning about his greenpeace project, i stopped to find out more about artist Spencer Tunick. why did i find him whorthwhile?
because he got a group of 600 get naked people on Aletsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps and thus documented an instance of global warming-the temperature there being 10 to 15 bellow 0 Celsius. it made me sad....it should make everyone wheep.
even if this seems quite special , this is what the guy does, photograph nakedness in large masses but also individuals. seeing naked people in such large numbers made me think of concentration camps, but also of Gandhi going through them, feeling nothing sexual. the people who volnteer for Tunick's artworks (7.000 for his all time record in 2003 in Barcelona) sustain that it is only an eliberating experience, and goes beyond sexual instincts. it must be so, it they get naked on command and perform all the reqested tricks......... nevertheless, i wonder if this is about the power of this idea, or the conscience of the fact that one is partaking the birth of an artwork.
the first picture shows him in a dictatorial pose, the camera being an object of subjecting so many naked bodies.
for those willing to get into details , here is a blog dedicated to the artist, but its latest entry is nov. 2005: http://www.spencertunick.blogspot.com/
i asked my 25 year old single brother whether he would take part in a tunick installation. *YES! sure, just to prove myself i can be free, and uninhibited, you know, let yourself go........and if there are also nice girls, no problem....
it has been known people to fall inlove with the occasion of such an installation, THUS do not des-PAIR .
