loveless-pennyless

wake up beside you- see you sleeping like with a death wish. sleep for ages, sleep to ignore and to forget, sleep to torture.
then, baby, i love you like a handful of small change...nothing less

how to be a locavore

this is how they do it in down-under.
i found insight in this SEED film about the different types of making sure that the food on your table is as local as possible: farmers markets, food box systems, food coops, community farms, community gardens and school garden.
plus i found that besides being a vegetarian (or vegan) it is also important to be a locavore=Someone who exclusively (or at least primarily) eats foods from their local or regional foodshed or a determined radius from their home (commonly either 100 or 250 miles, depending on location). By eating locally, most locavores hope to create a greater connection between themselves and their food sources, resist industrialized and processed foods, and support their local economy. The majority of locavores do not give themselves a strcit radius from which to eat, but instead buy as much of their food as they can from farmers, growers, and sellers with whom they have a relationship or whose growing or producing practices appeal they want to support. (about.com definition)
in the american oxford dictionary, locavore was word of the year in 2007, as there are many laudable american initiatives which subscribe themselves to the eat local challenge. so for all you snotty people put there thinking nothing eco ever came from or is happening in the US, wrong again!

anyhow, this is australia in this short film.
i've got nothing more to write about it, the film is self-explanatory, just watch, be inspired and learn!!!

nature poetry

THE CALL OF THE WILD

The heavy old man in his bed at night
Hears the Coyote singing
in the back meadow.
All the years he ranched and mined and logged.
A Catholic.
A native Californian.
and the Coyotes howl in his
Eightieth year.
He will call the Government
Trapper
Who uses iron leg-traps on Coyotes,
Tomorrow.
My sons will lose this
Music they have just started
To love.

***

The ex acid-heads from the cities
Converted to Guru or Swami,
Do penance with shiny
Dopey eyes, and quit eating meat.
In the forests of North America,
The land of Coyote and Eagle,
They dream of India, of
forever blissful sexless highs.
And sleep in oil-heated
Geodesic domes, that
Were stuck like warts
in the woods.

And the Coyote singing
is shut away
for they fear
the call
of the wild.

And they sold their virgin cedar trees,
the tallest trees in miles,
To a logger
Who told them,

”Trees are full of bugs.”

***

The Government finally decided
To wage the war all-out. Defeat
is Un-American.
And they took to the air,
Their women beside them
in bouffant hairdos
putting nail polish on the
gunship cannon-buttons.
And they never came down,
for they found,
the ground
is pro-Communist. And dirty.
And the insects side with the Viet Cong.

So they bomb and they bomb
Day after day, across the planet
blinding sparrows
breaking the ear-drums of owls
splintering trunks of cherries
twining and looping
deer intestines
in the shaken, dusty, rocks.

All these Americans up in special cities in the sky
Dumping poisons and explosives
Across Asia first,
And next North America,

A war against earth.
When it’s done there’ll be
no place

A Coyote could hide

envoy

I would like to say
Coyote is forever
Inside you.
But it’s not true.

(from Gary Snyder's 1975 Pulitzer poetry book "Turtle Island" )

old BLU project in berlin, but the music!

by now probably everyone has seen this little film of BLU contributing to the walls of berlin.
what i can't shake out of my head (and i think i shouldn't) is the amazing song on the background. it's the berliner dj-cum-painter siriusmo , a shy appearance in the local electronic music scene, originally a punk musician, when punk still had a word to spread out. there's no label behind him, but he collaborates with 'der jungs' from modeselektor(moderat) . i never saw any of his works, but he calls painting his job, while music just a hobby with no artistic pretension. it's gets better when he starts lining up the unexpected names of camille or phoenix on which he'd like to remix. on top of that he has a rather kewl one of marlene dietrich's "ich bin von kopf bis fuss auf liebe eingestellt". techno meets romantic, oder? ok, if you're not inlove yet, i should tell you that the man makes music for his bike.his socio-phobia stops him from using public transport so he always rides his bike or walks. he gets ideas on his bike. i'll try getting ideas while listening to his truff on my bike for now on. check out "mein neues fahrrad" and disregard the writing on the screen. i fuck (pardon my French!) on the sound of nature, not on electro :D

oh, the info is fresh from a magazine article that i read last night while not working on my school stuff. today i decided by hazard to download the music from the BLU video forgetting it was siriusmo once again!

Birdie N-am N-am :(

This blog needs a New Birth, not necessarily a french, charming one, but a revival !
verdamnte scheisse, zis is Germany and it's swarming with reasons to write.
Damn white screen nausea and clumsiness with words, and the lazyess...be gone, never to let matters die again!

Birdy Nam Nam (which you can also find as 'Birdie') are playing in berlin, precisely when i'm taking wing to Weimar, that is on the 1st of May weekend. Bar 25 will also open its narrow door to hipster-land...and many nasty fumes will fill this city on a swamp. e-nough about berlin, let's be melancolic and try not to desecrate Goethe's gartenhaus out of frustration. but jesus, look at the line-up the size of toilet paper roll at the opening. what i'd like to know is whether kate moss is throwing her own stash in the game or would two or three ibiza puppets have to help her our again. either way, happy sodoma and gomorra mashing up! see you next week :D

the century of the self

" what was beginning to emerge in the 1920s was a new idea of how to run mass democracy. at its heart was the consumming self, which not only made the economy work, but was happy and docile, and so created a stable society. "
(extract from a gripping documentary that i strongly recommend-the century of the self)

BO-no-BO

SAW HIS SHOW 2 WEEKS AGO. outcome: M hates electronic music after all (hm...c'est la vie), N picked up a guy (hehe!) i merely danced and let the music sink in.
'twas a chilly good night, esp. since the monkey acts quite cool and friendly.

Luke A'Laik

mabe i'm just obsessed, but does not this picture of Paul Kalkbrenner look like...<Blush>?

it crossed my mind many times while watching Berlin Calling, featuring P.K. as techno DJ Ikarus. the film does not rock in its storyline, but this character keeps it together through charisma and a some pretty good acting. music is also inspiring for many unhealthy activities, jogging included :D

must see if you want to relax and remember the great city, its traps and trails, but not if you're out for a modern epiphany.

Momentous Moment

shoot the bias!

being so disappointed with the political campaign now in romania, i want to escape by looking in the american backyard. so i stumbled on this website focused on "exposing and combating liberal media bias." i have no idea how far this goes, but to me it's just nice satire, because it makes fun of everyone from michael moore to obama.

NewsBusters

from the edition mentioning Earthday : "TIME magazine is under fire for a cover photo showing the marines planting a tree to fight against GLOBAL WARMING.
If that's all it takes for liberal journalists to support a war, then I hear OSAMA BIN LADEN DOES NOT LIKE TO RECYCLE!"

anyhow
the video news reports can make u spend a lot of time in front of the computer with a mephistophelian satisfied grin on your face.

economy, ecology, bikosophy

i invite you to watch John Burke, president of one of the major bicycles producers in the world, about the need of his industry to pay much more attention on lobbying governments for a bike-friendly world.

bikes can solve what he sees as the main global problems : obesity (in US and W Europe), Traffic congestion, urbanization, and environment deterioration ( cars' emissions= 60 % of air pollution)
what is good for his business is good for everybody. YOU couldn't find a greater way to market anything! some might want to contest it by asking why so much money and energy is wasted on those carbon models, as long as they cannot "save the planet more" than you regular 3 speed aluminum? but then again, complex needs are an inherent part of capitalist logic...... um, and it's too late to do away with capitalism now.

and by the way, did you know that 7 to 20 bikes fit in the parking space of a car? try it!

get you bicycle videos and fluff from here

no m'am!

it's great to be able to play even if you're a grown up. it's even better if you make fun of the right people in a daring attempt to open up a few minds.

thus,

Press/295
20 May 2002
WTO to announce schedule for disbanding

After a protracted and detailed review of current trade policy and its
effects on developing countries, the World Trade Organization has
decided to effect a cessation of all operations, to be accomplished
over a period of several months. The WTO will eventually
reintegrate as a new trade body whose charter will be to ensure
that trade benefits the poor.[...]

In order to provide greater access to the Least Developed Countries who will most benefit from the existence of the TRO, the organisation's headquarters will be moved from their current location in Geneva to the capital of one of the LDCs. Proposals for final location are currently being solicited.

dream on, babies!!!
the game here belongs to The Yes Men, creators of GATT.ORG, a website mocking the World Trade Organization, and describing its activities as faithful to reality as possible( they call it wisely "identity correction"), e.g.: "WTO news
WTO Announces Formalized Slavery Market For Africa.".Nevertheless, the appearance is legit, with logos and a good webdesign, but all the links leading to other anti-globalist websites.

this is a beautiful stunt from the anti-globalists, mostly because on account of the website being mistaken for the official one, they got invited to various conferences where they impersonate WTO people putting forward their elaborate ideas. how to end world hunger through recycling burgers from the first world and selling them to the third world, the manager leisure suit with a giant inflatable penis adapted with a monitor to control outsourced employees in the Global South, and others. is extremely worthwhile to watch the documentary about them because it takes guts and minute preparations to play like this.

you can browse through their latest work here

PS: the pink ball at Rostock was not bad either, methinks :P

new findings

i found a website showing 50 ways to help the Planet. wonderful!

HERE

only that most of them do not apply to my community's lifestyle. it seems that the risks brought about by environmental change are global, but the language is sometimes so space-specific that you can feel the gross disparities between the developed and the developing.
for example, nobody I know owns a dishwasher, nor a dryer, and i hope they never will, because such conquests or technology are utterly useless. due to habituation to these numerous appliances, the environmentally concerned Americans will promote their limited use, but cannot conceive their absence from the household.

nevertheless, the advice you find here is starting to apply for the Romanian in busy urban society, like # 24 "invest in you own coffee cup"( which everybody should be promoting in their offices) # 22 "buy local" (an impulse to those skeptical about local products and the consumerist snobs)+ all that refers to recycling, including object you no longer need and somebody else might want (Freecycle)

#40 my personal hope is to see hyper and supermarkets cutting down on their plastic bag usage, as "plastic bags suck" and replace maybe with cloth bags like the ones you can find in the German Plus retailers which carry the message "Mach mit-Deiner Umwelt zuliebe"

of course we would need to become more practical and loving and do the #17 : "shower with your partner", but remember afterwards to #6 : "diaper with a conscience".

what was that noise?

would i be too horrible if i said i didn't like it?

too uninspiringly violent, too nasty, smoky, fiendishly vibrating, non-entertaining, made me think of people punishing themselves. thanks god i found a couch and another battered soul in the person of c.
the intro part of silent strike was worth the trouble, but not the rest of the techno-mumbo-jumbo amon tobin unfortunately sounded like. it ended abruptly (phiu!) with no after-nothing to the puzzlement of the people from other parts of the country/world gathered to see this.

relief, shared a cab, ditched the rain and fast asleep.
